On Saturday, February 18th from 10-3, Fort Frederica National Monument will be sponsoring a fun learning activity in conjunction with the Great Backyard Bird Count, a citizen science project from Cornell University and the Audubon Society.
In addition to bird walks to count birds (10:30, 12:00, and 2:00) there will be activities for all ages. There will be displays about landscaping for the birds, additional citizen science projects, backyard birding basics, bird books, and info about birding trails.
For the students there will be various activities about bird adaptations, wingspans, and a Birding Olympics. Additionally there will be bird crafts and scavenger hunts. All of this is FREE.
