Engage 2017 will be a multi-cultural immersion experience in Clarkston, GA for Georgia Baptist Women age 18-35. Participants will engage with a community that is culturally, spiritually, economically, and generationally diverse through mission projects and experiences. The goal of the weekend will be to equip participants to better understand how they can cross some of those same diversity boundaries in their own community. In addition, Engage participants will serve alongside and learn from Georgia Baptist Women with a legacy of living missionally.
We are partnering with Clarkston International Bible Church and Lorna Bius with North American Mission Board for this very unique Engage. The weekend will include several “immersion” type experiences:
Visiting DeKalb Farmer’s Market
Small group times at a coffee shop in Clarkston that ministers to refugees by employing them and offering job skill training.
Mission projects including prayer walking, prayer “shopping” in some local stores, working with children in Clarkston, etc.
Lunch in homes of refugee women
Schedule. We will begin Friday night with dinner at 6:00 pm. Participants need to arrive no later than 6:00 Friday & plan to participate in the entire weekend. Because of the unique nature of the immersion experience, “Saturday only” or “Friday only” participation will not be allowed this year. We will conclude by 4:00 Saturday.
Housing. Once again, participants will be able to stay at the church. They will need to bring sleeping bag, air mattress (if preferred), pillow and towels. If participants prefer to stay in a hotel, there are suggested hotels on our web site. Hotel costs will be the responsibility of the participant.

Come learn to “embrace” your life stories and learn to submit them to God as you heal. God will use our life story to speak life into another person. John Piper stated, “Your suffering is not in vain, God never wastes the gift of pain.” Embrace your past as you are changed by the Almighty God to love another person walking through their pain.
